Google gives more importance to headings than the main body content on a webpage. Ensure that the headings are not plain, simple and generic but more specific, smarter and summarizes the main content. For example, if a Health food store business has given a heading 1 as “Sugar Free Sweets for Diabetics” for promoting their specialized sweets, then this heading might not catch Google’s attention as it only contains keywords. If they alter their heading 1 to “10 Reasons Diabetics should buy Sugar Free Sweets”, this can get them higher rankings as it’s a smarter way to promote their special snacks. The latter heading is not only catchy but also has the relevant and targeted keywords. This way a business can adhere to Google’s guidelines and also attract the audience via heading 1. Communicate effectively and see the sales increase for the business. Another important aspect is to not optimize heading 3, as the main focus for optimizing a page should always be for the potential customer and not Google. Keep the optimization only for Heading 1 and Heading 2.

Use synonyms for keywords to avoid overuse of targeted keywords. It advisable to use keywords only 3-4 times on a page, as anything more than that can be excessive and the audience might not like it. Furthermore Google and other search engines also do not approve of keyword stuffing. In such a scenario the smart thing to do is using synonyms for keywords. Example – if the keyword is “web marketing”, synonyms could be “internet marketing”, “online marketing” etc. Using synonyms can also help in highlighting related terms, as the audience can also search for related terms by using different keywords. So there is an opportunity to not only get clicks for keywords but also for related words.
