After posting blog you must keep eye on certain key metrics as leads generated, unique views etc. You must ask yourself “Am I improving my blog each time? or “How I can optimize it?” Yes you can optimize your blog using very simple Inbound marketing tips. Inbound marketing is creating and sharing content which is specifically designed for target audience/prospect. These are 7 top most inbound marketing tips to optimize your blog:

Tip 1- Keep headlines short 65 characters or less

Headline is most important part of writing a blog. But often it is most neglected part of writing. Blogger just concentrates on content which is really bad for SEO. People first read your headline and then content. According to Copyblogger 80% of  people first read headline, but only 20% go on to read the rest of the original post. To avoid “Headline Churn” it is important to write headline catchy and attractive. Make sure that your headline is relevant to content. Inbound marketing experts suggest that headline should not be too long. Search engines truncate headlines if it is too long adding the dreaded “….”  to the end of headlines. As a rule of thumb most search engines will max out around 65 characters. So, expert suggest that ideally your headline should not be more than 65 characters.

Tip 2- Put target  keywords near the front of  headline.

Always keep target keyword or phrase closer to the front of your headline. It is beneficial for SEO and discover ability. Because search engine wants to deliver the most specific and high quality content. Say for example you are writing an article on tourist places in London and your keyword is “London tourism”. Then headline “London tourism an A to Z guide” should perform better than “A to Z guide to London tourism”.

Tip 3- Use brackets to call out content format

If you have an infographic, video, FAQs, SlideShare or other cool piece of content embedded in your blog then you should make sure that everyone knows about it. Use brackets [] in your headline to highlight feature you use in blog. Here are some examples:

  • 12 Amazing Facts About Everyday Breakfast Food [Slideshare]
  • London Tourism A to Z Guide [FAQs]
  • 9 Secrets About Good  Health [Infographic]

Tip 4- Link to pages that are already ranking high in search

While crafting a blog post, it is a good practice to include links to other relevant pages and posts on your website. Pointing your blog’s internal links to your highest ranking pages will be more effective to boost ranking of your current blog. Here are few benefits of Internal linking:

  • Provides SEO value
  • It helps to move more people through your site which results in increase in traffic
  • It creates more opportunities for people to connect with your brand and convert into leads and customers.

It is common to link to the same internal page multiple times in a single blog post. But, while doing this make sure the first link is keyword optimized. This is useful when you launched new post and want to drive traffic to it’s landing page.

Tip 5- Link to your new posts to your old posts.

If you are writing about a topic that you have written before then it is good to connect your new post to your relevant old post. This helps to increase SEO authority of your new page. While interlinking, make sure you use good relevant keywords to the article you are linking to. Do not link every other post to your recent post it will irritate readers. Try to interlink only relevant post. Once you have started linking your blog’s page views and visitors length will not increase overnight. But gradually you will see growth.
