EatTreat Facebook Group Fetches $3,50,000 From 15 Investors

Social media marketing is primarily associated with one of the most widely social networking platform viz. Facebook. Yes! Do not be surprised if you come across the news that Facebook is being leveraged upon majorly by companies and businesses for better customer engagement and interaction.

Going in the same frame of thought, Facebook pages and Facebook Groups have been highly counted upon by these institutions so as to maintain direct and personal connect with the like-minded set of people, by discussing with them at a common platform.eattreat-1024x379

In the same context, it  is worth mentioning a fact that one of the Facebook group’s EatTreat has successfully been able to grab the eye of most of the members. Additionally, the strategical implications reflect that the group has readily received $3,50,000 funding from 15 investors. EatTreat has been moving on the same lines as that of Food Panda and plans to launch a website. This news was officialized by founder, Arjun Sawhney, a New Delhi-based communications professional.

With as many as 50K members in the EatTreat Facebook group, this community enables the users on the social media channel to describe their experiences about their food journeys. The website that is soon going to be launched shall be nothing but an extended form of the Facebook page and it shall only further improve the food experiences and let the users divulge into variety of food items. This model will enable revenue generation which will be readily linked to the advertisements being run to lure the prospective customers.

Stating about the new venture in the form a website, Arjun Sawhney stated that this entity will be operated by the Delhi-based Egg Communication Pvt. Ltd. Additionally, he stated that:

“It serves as a platform for home chefs and professionals in the food industry to promote themselves and aims to bridge the gap between consumers and providers. We have 18 employees on board now, including photographers and chefs”

Amongst those 15 investors who will be funding the website venture are:

  • Divitas Capital
  • Filmmaker Homi Adajania
  • Fashion Editor Bandana Tewari
  • Interior Designer Sussanne Khan
  • Kalyani Saha (Dior Couture, India)
  • Editor Nonita Kalra
  • Restauranteur Andrea Aftab and wife Pia Pauro (directors at EATINC and proprietors of Amici and the Imperial Hotel)
  • Shiv Khanna (Director, Catalyst Ventures)

However, Sawhney clearly stated that the major portion of the stake-holding rights shall reside with the holding company only.  Here is what Arjun quoted further: “Funding raised in this round will be utilised to bring the product to life, build infrastructure and make key hires of talent. Proprietary content on the platform will see a large database of tested recipes and quality articles covering topics related to food”
