Subhashish dasSubhashish Das has been working in the marketing field since 2011 with a mix of traditional and online marketing. He has worked in places like at Hyderabad, Bangalore and Bhubaneswar.

Currently, Subhashish is working as a freelance Digital Marketing Consultant. Time has changed with the change in the marketing approach due to mass access to internet and smart phones. People are more aware and smarter than before.

Which course of Digital Vidya did you participate in? How did it help you acquire new skills related to digital marketing?

Subhashish: I participated in the Certified Digital Marketing Master (CDMM) Course and Certified Mobile App Marketing Master Course (CMAMMC) offered by Digital Vidya.

I have worked on projects, assignments that are a part of the CDMM and CMAMMC course program.

Even, I have written some blogs for Digital Vidya as a Research Intern, which gave me an exposure to understand the use of wordpress, and while blogging I searched about different topics related to digital marketing which helped me a lot to learn more about the scope of digital marketing.

Why did you choose Digital Vidya’s course?

Subhashish: It took me one month to choose a digital marketing institute. I came to Delhi on September 2016 from Bhubaneswar, Orissa and started searching for institutes to join digital marketing course and stumbled upon Digital Deepak website from where I came to know about Digital Vidya. I went personally to Digital Vidya office located at Netaji Subhash Place, New Delhi to understand the curriculum and asked my father to join me during my admission.

I still remember my first training session from Digital Vidya office when I was not having internet access. I was fortunate to meet Mr. Kapil Nakra, Co-founder of Digital Vidya after my first session and it has been a memorable day as he blessed me for a bright future in my professional career.

How has the course contributed in your career growth including new job opportunities?

Subhashish: The course has an immense impact on my career. The reach of digital marketing has enhanced an upward growth in my career. Now the job opportunities for me in digital marketing are limitless. Every startup and established company want to market through online, where digital marketing plays a big role to achieve their goals.

Why do you think it’s important to learn Digital Marketing today?

Subhashish: There are a lot of advantages in learning digital marketing as today’s market are dependent on digital media. In today’s world, people are being connected more with the access to social media like Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, LinkedIn etc. Digital Marketing experts are able to extract insights of B2C and B2B which helps businesses to make the decision more effectively to achieve their business objectives.

Subhashish: Digital Marketing industry has been evolved from the introduction of email to access for communication. The development of technology in the fields of communication will be growing more in the future. So the demand will be growing more.

In India, the growth of digital marketing is enormous as it’s a developing country. And in a developing economy, the scope of growth will be always more. People’s mind set takes time to change but the change happens as it’s a never ending process. Every individual tries to simply the process of his actions to achieve his desired outcomes. Digital Marketing is playing the same role in every aspect whether personal or professional.

How do you stay updated on the latest trends in Digital Marketing? Which are the Digital Marketing resources (i.e. blogs/websites/apps) you visit regularly?

Subhashish: I keep myself update on the latest trends of Digital Marketing by following Digital Vidya blogs, recorded training video sessions of Digital Vidya – LMS, leadsourcing.in, inbound.org, moz.com, socialmediaexaminer.com, Hubspot.com, techgig.com, searchengineland.com, searchenginejournal.com, shoutmeloud.com,digitaldeepak.com, semrush.com, smartinsights.com, sproutsocial.com, YouTube channels of Google Webmasters, Brian Dean, Google Partners, Buffer, and Twitter accounts of digital market leaders.

Which are your favourite 3 digital media channels (e.g. Twitter, Google etc) and why?

Subhashish: My 3 favourite digital media channels are Google, YouTube and Twitter. I do a lot of search on Google to find my query answered quickly. Videos are more entertaining than text, so I follow YouTube Channels. Twitter reach is more in the global market. The trend of Twitter is an evolving stream to get connected globally.

Which are your 3 favourite Digital Marketing tools?

Subhashish: My 3 favourite Digital Marketing Tools are Google Analytics for website analysis, Buffer for Social Media Marketing, and MailChimp for email marketing campaigns.

Subhashish: The 3 people I respect are Nithyanandan Ramakrishna (a.k.a Neil) my trainer of Email Marketing, Rajiv Pandey SEO Trainer, and Punam Madan SEM Trainer. They are my inspirations in the field of digital marketing.

What is your advice to newbies who want to build career in digital marketing?

Subhashish: I wish success for newbies in their career. Digital Marketing has a great scope of opportunities. Out of my learning experience with Digital Vidya, they have been a great guiding support in enhancing my skills in Digital Marketing.

I will suggest following the curriculum of Digital Vidya in a stipulated time frame. If you can complete assignments, tasks, projects in the time bound then your half of the required actions are done to success in the field of Digital Marketing.

Everyone should aspire to become successful. To keep the aspiration live and healthy, I suggest following someone who are already successful and have set a trend.

What are the challenges a person is likely to face when s/he enters into Digital Marketing industry? How can s/he overcome those?

Subhashish: The biggest challenge would be matching the required skills and experience to tap into Digital Marketing industry. But, you need to worry as there are a lot of freelancing projects available to update yourself to achieve your desired objectives.

For someone who’s looking at full time or part time job or an internship in Digital Marketing, what approach would you advice?

Subhashish: Someone who’s looking for full-time job opportunities in Digital Marketing, they should directly approach to an employer. First analyse the website of the employer where you want to apply and convey the employer your competency to match their requirements. It’s a good idea if you can showcase your skills with some examples like your own hosted blogs and its subjective achievements.

For part-time job or an internship there a lot of websites who are providing these opportunities. For example: freelancer.com, upwork.com, twenty19.com, etc.

Digital media especially Social media channels such as Facebook can eat up a lot of your productive time if not used wisely. Do you agree? What all can one do to efficiently leverage these channels for personal growth?

Subhashish: It’s true that if Social media channels such as Facebook are not being used efficiently, then, it can eat up a lot of your productive time. You need to understand the funnel strategy, i.e. Awareness, Consideration, Conversion, Loyalty and Advocacy. You can follow Facebook groups of Digital Marketing Jobs to stay updated about job opportunities in digital marketing.  You can also follow bloggers/entrepreneurs to stay updated with latest trends. It’s a good idea to create a Facebook Page to showcase your social media marketing skills and promote by using buffer.com. In Buffer, you have the option to sync your Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram. You can set date and time for your posts to stay active and showcase your active participation in your social media channels.

If you were given a chance to rebuild your career, what changes you would have made to have even better growth and fulfilment?

Subhashish: If I am given a chance to rebuild my career, I would make one single change i.e. to work on my soft skills. Out of my learning experience, soft skills helps to be better in every aspect of becoming successful and inspire others.

How do you see Digital Media evolving in future?

Subhashish: Digital Media has helped people to connect with a greater reach to worldwide. The change in technology has made Digital Media to play a vital role at an international level. The evolvement of digital media is dependent on evolving technology which is evergreen and keeps changing with the change in time and resources.
