Bhavin bhavsarStarting his career as an SEO professional, Bhavin Bhavsar quickly migrated to the realm of digital marketing to leverage his expertise in online marketing in a personalized manner. Over the years, he has learned and evolved considerably especially in the realm of digital marketing methods for offering maximum reach and revenue for his clients.

Bhavin was particularly groomed by the owner of Bitscape, his first company wherein he got well-versed with all sorts of SEO and SMO techniques. As he put his learning to practice, Bhavin leveraged his skills for Digital Marketing and achieved certifications from time-to-time. His experience with diverse clients from India and Abroad, helped his in gaining tremendous knowledge of the field, successfully.

According to you, what are the advantages of conventional marketing over Digital Marketing? Do you think that Digital Marketing is a threat to the future of conventional marketing?

Bhavin: Conventional marketing has had tremendous reach over all types of people for several years. But as digital marketing is seeping in the society and many people migrating to online medium and smart mobility with smartphones, I think that digital marketing will ultimately beat conventional mediums in the next five years or so.

Share about your 3 favorite Digital Marketing case studies. What did you like most about them?

Bhavin: I will refrain from mentioning the exact details of my clients and the work I have done for them but I can safely say that nearly every client I had has given me an opportunity to leverage the digital marketing medium in more ways than one, ultimately adding more strength to my repertoire. The last decade of TreatSEO and my education platform have brought about a whirlwind change in online marketing and even changed my life so there are no particular case study that I will like to mention here. All have equal importance.

According to you, what are the top 3 mistakes committed by organizations today in leveraging Digital Marketing?

Bhavin: 

  • I suppose the primary reason for failure when implementing digital marketing mediums is lack of client research and knowledge of the right tool for spreading their word. Not all companies are fit enough for all social platforms or tools, so understanding their requirements and identifying the best fit is what most organizations fail to do.
  • Also, many organizations stick to one platform if they are comfortable with it, not realizing that they are shortchanging the client efforts with a narrower outlook of the online medium.
  • Also, many organizations fail to integrate digital marketing medium with existing systems within the client company, thus failing to create a strong environment for facilitating communication with shareholders and end customers.
Between Agency and In-house, which approach would you recommend for maximum value of Digital Marketing? Why?

Bhavin: I think that there are advantages and disadvantages with both approaches. Inhouse operations are more aligned with the spirit of the company rather than the agency approach, but certainly, it is a huge price to pay. Agencies with experts in the field are well suited to handle any requirement but since they have to concentrate on multiple clients, they might be pressured into delivering less than what they promise. Ultimately, virtual workers with digital marketing experience might blend both approaches for better chances of success for most companies

How do you ensure increasing Digital Marketing’s relevance and influence in the organization?

Bhavin: Digital marketing is already relevant in most companies owing to the increased proliferation of smartphones and IT systems in all industries. Companies need to be trained though to not get carried away with the implementation approach, with proper security measures in place. Chances of breach of security increase when social media relevance increases within companies. Hence one needs to partner with the right digital marketing firm for a better approach and a seamless implementation plan.

Bhavin: I prefer using Hootsuite and Klout

Why do you think it’s important for entrepreneurs, marketing professionals and students to learn Digital Marketing today?

Bhavin: 

  • For Entrepreneurs:

Identify the audience and devise cost-effective measures to sustain customer relationships.

  • For Professionals:

To be aligned with the latest trends so as to not get caught up with old approaches for digital marketing.

  • For Students:

To be open about integrated technology trends and subjects so that one can strike the right relation in leveraging them optimally.

What are the top 3-5 skills you look for when hiring a candidate for Digital Marketing profile?

Bhavin: When hiring a candidate, I mostly look for their interpersonal skills. For a digital marketer, it is first and foremost important to be a marketer who can use their technical knowledge for better results. Secondly, I look for honest workers because even if they lack some skills, they need to be hard-working and prolific in their work. Interest in technology is another attribute I look for.

What is your advice for newbies, who are looking at building a career in Digital Marketing industry?

Bhavin: I would like to say to them that for success, hard work as well as smart work is essential. Digital marketing is a field where the smart can survive. Also be open to the new trends because the digital world is changing considerably and at a fast pace.

How do you stay updated on the latest trends in Digital Marketing? Which are the Digital Marketing resources (i.e. blogs/websites/apps) you visit regularly?

Bhavin:  Marketing Land, Kiss Metrics, Social Media Examiner etc. are some of the blogs I follow.

How do you see Digital Media evolving in future? What are the top 3 trends do you foresee for 2016?

Bhavin: I suppose the digital marketing platforms will be more defragmented, technologies will become more integrated. Also I think that digital media is sure to expand into more platforms too, especially with wearables coming to the fore.
