Digital Vidya: Does the advent of social media change the hierarchies in organizations that contribute to old-fashioned top-down change management?

Navneet: Social media has evolved at an astonishing pace and there’s no wonder that it has very much become a part of the successful organization. Instead of saying that the advent of social media has changed the hierarchies in organizations, I would say that it has rather expanded the hierarchies. While senior management people are still conceiving and planning techniques, the newcomers are giving them a helping hand with their new age ideas. It is true that the youngsters have a better hang of social media & top people in the organizations are ensuring that these talents hold a position in the flow chart.

Digital Vidya: As companies try to get employees to participate in social media, what lessons should they learn as to how to go about that organizational change?

Navneet: When we talk about encouraging participation of employees at the social media level, we have to be really careful in terms of the message that goes out of the organization. And when employees are participating in social media they have to show some responsibility towards the company and the brands it works for. Nothing unethical or something that portrays bad image of the organization should be shared on social platforms. The same should be religiously followed when we talk about our clients and this is where the management plays an important role. If an organization has managed to find a bunch of social media enthusiast youngsters, it should not overlook the importance of those on the top role. While the young team can come up with some out-of-the-box social media ideas, it is only the experienced management that can help make the ideas happen. Youngsters can be impulsive at moments and it is at the time of crisis that experience of the seasoned manager comes into the picture.

Digital Vidya: What do you see coming next for this whole space in the industry in the long run?

Navneet: Everybody would agree if I say that social media is the Big Thing. At times, I am astonished with the pace at which it has evolved in the past five years. It started with individuals and we can see how eager businesses now are about running social media campaigns. The trend will continue to grow with time. There will be more of blogging, sharing, liking, +1ing, and of course following.

Digital Vidya: For readers who don’t know much about your organization, how would you describe it? Why do you think it has been successful

Navneet: PageTraffic started  in 2002 as an SEO company and it is still our highest selling service. With time, we have geared ourselves well for the Social Media and Digital Marketing world as well. What differentiates us from our competitors is the quality of service that we offer. We not only build sites, but also provide comprehensive online marketing strategies. Many clients started who started their business with us years ago are still seeking our services. This is an achievement for PageTraffic. We have won several awards & recognitions. We measure our success with our high client retention rate.

Digital Vidya: What do you see coming next for your organization?

Navneet:  The competition is going to be really tough in the coming years as the search engines are becoming smarter. But, we have to keep up the pace and perform the way we have been for the past several years. What I can see coming next for PageTraffic are lots of challenges not from the competitors but from the search engines (changing algorithm). However we are determined to exceed the expectations of clients, like we have been doing for years. Brands are trying to create their presence felt across the categories and focus more on online brand and reputation building, so we will be coming up with more customized packages for our clients.

Being the industry leader we see ourselves taking more initiatives for industry growth by fostering awareness, providing education, conducting regular events and meets.
