Rohit Uttamchandani was a marine engineer in the merchant navy for five years and he made a career switch to digital marketing last year. He is currently working as Social Media and Client Servicing Manager at Social Beat, a Chennai – based end-to-end digital marketing agency.
Digital Vidya: What interested you in learning Digital Marketing?
Rohit: I have been following the digital marketing space for the last couple of years and found myself enjoying reading and learning about the space. Studying the trends and looking at the growth prospects in the space made me come to the conclusion that now was the best time to get in.
Digital Vidya: Which course are you participating in at Digital Vidya?
Rohit: I have just completed the six-month Certified Digital Marketing Master (CDMM) Course.
Digital Vidya: Why did you choose Digital Vidya’s course?
Rohit: I had checked out various online courses available from different institutes like NIIT, Edukart, Market Motive, Digital Vidya and Digital Academy amongst others. Most courses had very similar curriculums with similar pricing (with the exception of Market Motive which is priced fairly high) and were all in the online format. So going only by these criteria, it frankly wasn’t an easy choice to make. Some good feedback from earlier course participants, the fact that Digital Vidya has been in the space longer than the others and a good orientation webinar by Digital Vidya’s Co-founder Kapil Nakra were what tilted the scales in its favor.
Digital Vidya: Please share top 3-5 takeaways from the course you are participating in at Digital Vidya.
Rohit:
- A good fundamental understanding of the different elements involved in digital marketing.
- A great opportunity to network and connect with other professionals in the field.
The module on Email marketing was, in my opinion, the best part of the course and deserves special mention.
Digital Vidya: Please share your experience in learning through an instructor-led, online format.
Rohit: This was the first time I was doing a course in this format and it was a fairly good experience. The format is interactive and all participants can actively participate in the class, ask questions, share thoughts and air their views. This makes it feel like an actual classroom, though all participants are only virtually present. There were some issues with voice and video clarity at times due to network connectivity but, on the whole, it was a nice experience.
Digital Vidya: What do you like most about Digital Vidya’s training program?
Rohit: The course curriculum covers the basics of all modules very well and would definitely help someone build a strong foundation of digital marketing, to further build upon. All instructors are very knowledgeable, have considerable experience in the space and conduct the class, excellently well in the online format.
Digital Vidya: Do you suggest any changes to Digital Vidya, so that the value of its courses can be enhanced further?
Rohit: As stated earlier, overall, it’s a great course and provides a strong foundation of digital marketing which participants can build upon. However, anything good can always be made better and I would have a couple of suggestions which could further enhance the value of the course.
Any digital marketer would know the importance that website and landing page design plays in optimizing conversions. Though Landing Page Optimization does get a little mention here and there in some modules of the course, adding another entire module on Website and Landing Page Design, User Experience and Conversion Rate Optimization would help the participant acquire an understanding of how the various elements of design interact with marketing and would definitely add value to the course.
Thanks Rohit for placing trust in us. Glad to hear about your feedback. We are happy that you could experience what we teach about Digital Marketing in action.
Looking forward to sharing this journey to explore the world of Digital Marketing with you.
