Malaysia Social Media Week (MSMW) 2015: An Eventful Week

The week-long event viz. Malaysia Social Media Week (MSMW) 2015 created a buzz before it was about to be held in Kuala Lumpur from 21st-25th April.

Amongst plenty of eventful sessions and panel discussions that were held at the MSMW 2015, eminent and influential speakers turned up to apprise the audience. Also, there were plenty of striking and renowned names that were the event sponsors and social media partners for this highly engaging and interactive event. Amongst them was Digital Vidya as well. Besides, Digital Vidya’s Co-founder Kapil Nakra was a part of the panel discussion for one of the sessions viz. ‘Personalizing or Going General’. Here is what Kapil had experienced at the event and his views on the topic that he spoke on:

I think the way Social Media ensure relevance of content for every user is by personalizing content. That is the reason, why 65% of 1.3 billion Facebook users logs in every day. That is the reason advertisers are able to get better ROI.

MSMW 2015  was attended by leading authorities from Malaysia, India, Singapore, Australia and other places in the world. There were more than 300 participants in MSMW. Kapil stated that in his view the key highlight of the conference was a session from Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad (the fourth Prime Minister of Malaysia) in which he was talking about his views on the impact of Digital Media is adopted in Malaysia. In the session, he highlighted the need for moderating content available on internet for better impact on society.

Besides, in his panel discussion, Kapil spoke about various way to deliver personalized communication to your target audience including interest & behavioural Targeting. He substantiated that the problem arise when businesses try to scale personalized campaigns. If you do not do it properly, the changes are that you will get lot of bad publicity for your organisation, added Kapil.

Furthermore, Kapil shared his an example of Rahul Gandhi (Congress I) & Toyata Camry Twitter Campaign to demonstrate how-not-to-implement Social Media Personalization campaigns.

Apart from this, the ‘Bloggers Jam‘ was an extremely simplified and enlightening session that had 4 eminent speakers who shared the tips and tricks for good blogging.

All in all, the crux is that the entire was engaging, enthralling and highly captivating for the audience who were a part of this insightful event, Malaysia Social Media Week (MSMW) 2015.
