Introduction  

Search Engine marketing (SEM) is a form of Internet marketing that involves the promotion of websites by increasing their visibility in search engine results pages (SERPs) through optimization and advertising. SEM may use search engine optimization (SEO), which adjusts or rewrites website content to achieve a higher ranking in search engine results pages, or use pay per click (PPC) listings. In 2012, North American advertisers spent US$19.51 billion on search engine marketing. “Search Engine Marketing” was once was used as a term to encompass both SEO (search engine optimization) and paid search activities. Over time, the industry has adopted the SEM acronym to refer solely to paid search .The largest search engine marketing (SEM) vendors are Google AdWords, Bing Ads, and Baidu. Google Trends is a public web facility of Google , based on Google Search, that shows how often a particular search-term is entered relative to the total search-volume across various regions of the world. Google Trends is helpful in investigating trends related to requested keywords. In this way, one can compare up to five queries on one graph. It’s a good tool for analyzing long-term trends of the market.

    AdWords traffic estimations serve as valuable indicators of which AdWords keywords are driving the most traffic to your site or triggering the most conversions.
