Great Indian Marketing Weekend (GIMW), 2014 is the best opportunity to witness how clients and agencies can be brought together with 50+ CMOs, VPs, Brand Heads, etc. who were playing a role of mentors in this event.

A panel discussion by industry experts viz., Pradeep Chopra, CEO, Digital Vidya; Dinesh Agarwal, CEO, IndiaMart InterMesh Ltd.; Debarpita Banerjee, Fox; Sandeep Nagpal, SAP; and Amit Grover, Nuture Talent in Great Indian Marketing Weekend (GIMW), 2014 clearly stated that Social Media is considered to be one of the best mediums of marketing for any industry. All the panelists had their views on Social Media which are:

Debarpita Banerjee:

  • You can not go to Social Media with the object of selling. You go to Social Media to engage. It can not be sale driven completely.
  • Social will remain and there will be no vacant space on internet.

Pradeep Chopra:

  • Just because people might talk about negative about us, lot of people don’t go for it.
  • Social media requires discipline.
  • Planning and use of tools like Buffer and Tweetdeck is a great help of using social media in disciplined manner.
  • Social Media is medium of communication; however, people may move from one platform to another.

Dinesh Agarwal:

  • 33% of business happens out of community created for buyers and suppliers on IndiaMart.
  • As a marketer / businessman, we should not ignore social media.
  • If there is no social media, you as a brand do not have the opportunity to connect with your customers.
  • Social Media helps you in listening to the people.
  • Within IndiaMart, we have lots of whatsapp groups internally.

Sandeep Nagpal:

  • At the end of the day, you can not ignore social media.
  • At one side you can not only help customers who are dissatisfied but also talk about the positive feedbacks.

Hence, all the panelist had single view which is, You Just Can’t Ignore Social Media.
