Here are the 10 SEO blunders in the content marketing & link marketing strategy that are not affordable.

1. Quality Of Content:

Good quality of content is very important for better results. The common mistakes made in the case of quality of content are as follows:

a) Poor quality content:

Poor quality content means poor grammar, bad presentation, poor selection of topic/wrong niche, irrelevant researched content.

Poor quality content can be avoided by creating solid content strategy by putting efforts in selecting promising topics, writing effectively, well-researched & informative content, proofreading before publishing it.

b) Duplicated Content:

Duplicate content i.e content which is copied from another website equals to plagiarism. In the process of copying content one is always at the risk of publishing same content as it is identified easily & website is taken down by Google.

Article should be rewritten, consulting various resources & summing up own opinions & experiences and making it unique.

c) Unformatted Content:

Following are the clear signs of content which is not formatted and which has very less SEO value.

  • Incorrect Titles.
  • No Sub- Headings.
  • No Bullet Points.

Formatting content with proper title tags & meta descriptions helps end users to get the information faster and avoids search errors.

It is being found in websites built only around targeted keywords. Multiple posts around the common topics will easily get searched by Google leading to bad results.

It is advisable not to use keywords thinking about the density and should be used naturally in the content.

3. Keyword Focused Content:

In SEO, practice of focusing keywords in writing content has gone. Content must be towards readers first & then the search engine. It means to focus on producing value & avoiding awkward keyword phrases in the sentence.

An article should not be written thinking about count as long as target keyword is used at least once.

4. Thin Content:

Thin content is the content which provides very less information. A short but informative article gets more visibility then long post with insufficient information.

Choose broad topics and create nice article with relevant images & videos.

5. Outdated Content:

Many of the websites upload old content that affects the SEO of the website as when websites are crawled by robots, some of the content from the recent past may be outdated and the information will be considered misleading.

Outdated content should be removed before being construed as misleading by search engine.

6. Linking with dubious websites:

Post-Penguin, link-building is checked very carefully. Linking to websites which have very less worth or dubious in nature will risk the reputation of your own website.

And after rolling out of Penguin update links from spammy websites brought down many websites in Google’s search results.

Only link to good quality, authorized & worthy websites after research.Always check your Google Webmaster Tools account for artificial links. Google’s Disavow Links tool helps to discount links from specific websites.

7. Anchor Text:

Anchor text was a precise metric initially & overused but now after Penguin update Google tracks if same anchor texts links to your website it is being corrected by Penguin.

Limited amount of same anchor text must be used to link to your website.

8. Directories:

Directory links have lost their value in SEO & should reply only on reputed engines among users.

Directory linking should be done with only high quality directories in your field.

9. Paid links:

Paid linking is dangerous in the post Penguin world as Google expects to work naturally & build the links & content. Paid linking is considered to be violation of the policy by Google.

Avoid paid links.

10. Blog Commenting:

Blog commenting was popular SEO tactic in old days. Platforms like Disqus or Facebook are use by many sites to enable comments and discussions which don’t have very less link value resulting to be bad tactic for SEO.

Time should be engaged in productive discussions & commenting naturally & building relationships.
