3 Simple Steps For Result Oriented Web Analytics Using Google Analytics Tool

Rate this post

I will not go deep down to explain you guys what are the benefits of Web Analytics or Google Analytics rather I would focus on its functioning. At the end after reading this blog I am sure you guys will feel it is as simple as using any social networking account. Start analysing your sites traffic in 3 steps:

1. Sign up for Google Analytics: It only needs some basic information about what site you would like to monitor. For tracking your website give URL of your website which is very simple. Account name will be the name of your website. Accept terms and condition. If you want to analyse any sub directory then put the name extension of your sub directory with main URL.

2. Add Tracking code: You’ll get a tracking code to paste on to your pages so Google knows when your site is visited. When you arrived on google analytics interface page, just scroll down, where you will find a code which google analytics uses to track your website. You have to specify what you are tracking like multiple sub domains, top level domains, or for multiple countries, etc. As you will select the options according to your requirement the code will automatically change in the interface page down.

3. Learn about your Audience: In a few hours you will be able to start seeing data about your site. For this just copy paste that code into your website’s source code. Like for example you are using “Dream Viewer” for coding your websites functionality, then just copy paste the code into body tag and save it. You don’t have to know anything about code written into it. This code must be present in every single page which you want to track.  It is better to put the code into Footer or Includes section because that will get post in every page and it will not be cumbersome for you to copy paste each time into every page. If you go back to the google analytics, you can go to your account after some time may be couple of hours. You’ll get Demographics, Behaviour, Trends, Standard Reporting chart etc. as shown in figure.

You can go to the Admin section and check your tracking code any time. You can also send the code to your webmaster to analyse it. Inside a code you will find a unique number which will be actual number of your website.
