4 Steps To Excel In SEO

Website is the source of information for any business. Customers come to know about the company from the information available on the website. But how to make a customer aware of the website which contain exactly what the customer is looking for? A marketer is aware of SEO and the role it plays to make a business successful. Still many marketers fail to create a sound strategy for SEO. SEO sounds interesting and easy in theory but when implemented in the real world it is one of the toughest jobs a marketer has to do. Before jumping into SEO process, have a look at the following steps which will help you to master SEO techniques.

Step 1: Search Engine Friendly Website

Make sure that your website is developed in such a way, so that search engine can easily access it. For example, in older days people used to build their website on Flash, which is outdated now, so if someone build the website on Flash then it will be difficult for search engine to read the content of your website. The search engine will not understand what the website is all about. So make sure your website is search engine friendly so that it can access and read all the pages of your website.

Step 2: Content Optimization

Matching keywords to consumer behaviour is a very critical part in content optimization. Take for example someone is searching for Hotels in Delhi. Now it is important to know the intention of the customer i.e. is he doing a research on hotels? or his intention is to book a hotel room?. These type of intention matching is very important. So based on the service your website offer, it is important to understand what type of query a customer might have, what type of keyword will force the visitor to fill up the contact form or whatever action you want the visitor to take after they land on the website to make them converted into your potential customer.

Step 3: Building Authority via Links

Here link means backlink. A backlink is when someone links to your website from their own web page or when somebody puts a link of your website on their website. For example: Suppose you have a personal blog and after reading my blog you go back to your personal blog and mention that you read about “4 Steps To Excel In SEO” and attach the link of my blog, then this is the backlink for my blog, so backlink is something that search engine consider as a vote.

Let’s take another example: Suppose I am writing an article on Indian Travel Industry, and I think the most valuable source of information about a specific city is Wikipedia, so I will put a link to Wikipedia on my article so that users who are reading my article can go to Wikipedia and read their content as well. I trust Wikipedia, that’s why I am putting a link to Wikipedia on my website. Now what’s happening here is that Wikipedia is getting a backlink from my website and search engine considers that since people are linking to Wikipedia, so Wikipedia is an authority site.

Step 4: Social Media

Social plays a very major role here. Because nowadays everybody is on social media, so the search engine is considering another factor i.e. if the content of the website is really helpful then users will share it on social media. This is a second level authentication. Apart from links, the search engine also considers how many people are sharing a specific website on social media. For example, if I find a website really helpful, I will definitely share it on social media and I will also recommend it to my friends. So this is the second level of authentication search engines are using these days. They are trying to catch social signals like how many people are sharing a page on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and so on and try to understand the authenticity of the content.
