Digital Marketing industry is booming with a growth rate of 40% while other industries are struggling even to achieve 8-10% year-over-year rate of growth.
No matter if you offer a product or a service, the power of digital marketing can’t be underestimated. In times today, we are fully dedicated to digital media and so when we are advertising or marketing something then we are supposed to put most of our efforts to online mediums.
Understanding the role of digital marketing is important when it comes to converting a lead to satisfied customer. This being the reason, a session was conducted by Digital Vidya at IIT Roorkee. The enthusiastic students of MBA 1st and 2nd year participated in this session.

1. The importance of innovation in today’s digital era
With the information flooded about digital media, it is important to note that marketers need to be innovative enough to ensure that their campaigns stand out among the competitors. For instance, if we are shopping for anything to everything like food, tour packages, or fashion products, the Internet has changed decision-making ways. Therefore, at Google, this online decision-making moment is Zero Moment of Truth, in other words, ZMOT. He explained ZMOT to the students with the help of a few examples.

2. Applications of Digital Marketing
There are a lot of areas where digital marketing is used for various purposes like Lead Generation, Sales, CRM, ORM, HR, and Brand Awareness. Quality hands-on experience on the working of Google AdWords dashboard was given by the representatives of Digital Vidya.
In the further discussion, IIT students explained the working of PPC or pay-per-click as a model of internet marketing wherein advertisers pay a fee each time one of their ads is clicked. They showcased Google Keyword & Display Planner to demonstrate and explain the working of the tools. For example, the students along with Digital Vidya team crafted the digital strategy for a product launch and took Tata Zest as an example.

Since this field is considered to be a hybrid component lately, a lot of new aspects were explored and discussed.
4. Explaining other key aspects of Digital Marketing
Important areas of Digital Marketing like Email Marketing, Content Marketing, Search Engine Marketing (SEO) were explained and how one can mix these elements to target the right customer at the right time.
5. Discussion of newly launched concepts
By the end of the seminar, new and trending concepts of Mobile Marketing and Inbound Marketing were discussed.
He talked about how Digital Marketing fit into the role of overall marketing and how it works independently or in integration with other marketing channels. In fact, digital consumption is gradually increasing so it has become even more important for companies to build their capability on Digital and here this opens a new door of opportunity for fishers.
The students along with Shahnawaz Khan indulged in a valuable and knowledgeable interaction on digital markets.
