Facebook Steps-Up To Aid Nepal Earthquake Victims

Rate this post

One of the most devastating incident of this year has left thousands of people affected with its effect. The earthquake and tremors felt in Nepal and certain adjacent parts of Northern India one after the other on 25th April, 2015 left a great impact, especially the after-shocks predicted by the scientists. The measurement of the frequency on Richter Scale turned out to be 8.1 in Nepal, which shattered homes, huge buildings and created a havoc in the lives of so many innocent people.

When people were coming out of the shivers and shocks of the tremors felt on Saturday, the next morning gave another shock that left the people taken-aback. Simultaneous tremors and quakes impacted the residents and other visitors, thus leaving crying faces and shattered homes.

Thus, to lend a helping hand and wipe out the tears of these disaster struck people, millions of helping hands turned-up in huge numbers such that aid in terms of monetary funds, food items and other requisite aid that was needed to the affected person.

Amongst these was one of the social media platforms Facebook that turned up actively to help those affected in this earthquake. Facebook is urging its members to donate to the emergency response teams responding to the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck near Kathmandu, Nepal, over the weekend — and the social network will match contributions up to $2 million.

Facebook has added a message at the top of the News Feed to encourage its members to donate funds to the International Medical Corps. Facebook’s matching funds will go toward local search and rescue organizations.

FacebookDonate-640x522In its plea for donations to help those in need, Facebook stated:

“Since then, millions of people have been marked safe and tens of millions of people were notified that someone they know has been marked safe”.

Do join in with this great initiative put forth by one of the widely used social media platform -Facebook. Prayers for those innocent souls who lost their lives in this unfortunate event and extended aid to those who lost their loved ones.
