Google’s New Ranking Adjustment Curbs Doorway Page Ranking

Search engine giant Google was and is becoming extremely cautious with its qualification guidelines, for instance Google’s Algorithm. It is now a common sight to see some or the other notification arising from world’s search engine giant with respect to adjustments in the new ranking conceptualization.

It is a worth mentioning fact that with the sheer motive of improvising upon the search quality on Google, the updations on the Doorway page algorithm need to be made.Google-To-Launch-New-Doorway-Page-Penalty-Algorithm

Google’s official notification have come up with the fact that as per it’s quality guidelines for doorway pages, it is not fine to go about redirecting the user to other sites as it tends to hamper the user experience.

The new ranking concept that has been announced will be launched soon by Google as an attempt to crack down the Doorway pages altogether as according to Google’s algorithm, this is not an acceptable way to reach out to the audience altogether.

Until now, the issues pertaining to Doorway pages were not so big an issue that it could be noticeable in the search result. Thus, the prime objective of coming up with this initiative is to bring the interest of the users to the precise website on which he/she has expressed interest on.

Ironically, the Doorway pages have been associated with being the concept to get in almost all the search queries and after that send the users to a different page. In response to this, Google’s instant can be clearly reflected via the image depicted below:

Ideally, this concept has come into picture as it is entirely against Google’s quality standards, but the sad fact is that it has hardly stopped people from being able to try it out. In the year 2005, Matt Cutts from Google, came up with a genuine advice to the users so as not to hire an “assclown SEO that makes doorway pages with sneaky redirects,” and that advice still holds up today, apparently more than ever.

It was five years ago that search engine giant Google began to send out the messages to the webmasters when Webmaster Tools detected doorway pages on their respective sites. A representative from Google’s Webspam Team, Brian White stated that:

“We have a long-standing view that doorway pages that [are] created solely for search engines can harm the quality of the user’s search experience, for example, searchers might get a list of results that all go to the same site. So if a user clicks on one result, doesn’t like it, and then tries the next result in the search results page and is taken to that same site that they didn’t like, that’s a really frustrating experience.”

“Over time, we’ve seen sites try to maximize their ‘search footprint’ without adding clear, unique value,” says White. “These doorway campaigns manifest themselves as pages on a site, as a number of domains, or a combination thereof.” According to White, sites with “large and well-established doorway campaigns” may notice a significant impact from the adjustment.

All in all, it is great to see Google’s algorithm changes. What is your take on the same? Feel free to share your opinion, suggestions and any other inputs pertaining to the search engine giant’s changes in the Google algorithm.
