Interview with Aditya Patra, an MBA who leveraged Digital Marketing & turned into Digital Marketing Executive

Aditya Patra had just completed MBA before he joined Digital Vidya (DV) for the CDMM course and was working as a Marketing Executive. Aditya had very little knowledge about Digital Marketing and the amazing potential it has in today’s digital-based world and he shares that Digital Vidya has done an amazing job in introducing me and explaining the basics of various modules of Digital Marketing. 

Which course of Digital Vidya did you participate in? How did it help you acquire new skills related to Digital Marketing?

Aditya Patra: I participated in the Certified Digital Marketing Master (CDMM) Course  and it helped me in various aspects but most prominently in the field of social media marketing, email marketing and web analytics. Now I have descent amount of knowledge of creating posts for various social media platforms and create good emails from marketing point of view.

Why did you choose Digital Vidya’s course?

Aditya Patra: 

I wanted to pursue digital marketing and and was looking for various institutes that were offering courses related to it but the reviews and the track record of Digital Vidya intrigued me to choose the course.

How has the course contributed in your career growth including new job opportunities?

Aditya Patra: Well, Digital Vidya also has a placement cell which helped me in arranging an interview with a reputed organization and I am pretty happy with the job opportunity I currently have.

Why do you think it’s important to learn Digital Marketing today?

Aditya Patra: Every organization is trying its level best to make its presence in the digital world, be it a product oriented organization or service oriented one or even NPOs. This is because internet has erased the gap people felt due to the geographical boundaries and hence organizations have a bigger more complex audience to target. To top it up, people now make informed decisions and this calls for good marketing skills in the digital world.

How do you stay updated on the latest trends in Digital Marketing? Which are the Digital Marketing resources (i.e. blogs/websites/apps) you visit regularly?

Aditya Patra: I have a peculiar interest in SEO so I follow MOZ, Neil Patel and Search Engine Land

Which are your favourite 3 digital media channels (e.g. Twitter, Google etc) and why?

Aditya Patra: My 3 favorite digital media channels were Facebook (because it being a complete socially oriented channel), Twitter (being an active and lively media to know and say what’s going on) and Instagram (because a picture says 1000 words).

Which are your 3 favourite Digital Marketing tools?

Aditya Patra: My 3 favorite DM tools would be Mailchimp, Open Site Explorer and Buffer.

Aditya Patra: I follow Neil Patel, Rand Fishkin and Mike Allton.

What is your advice to newbies who want to build career in digital marketing?

Aditya Patra: Get the basics right and get as much hands-on experience as possible. Stay in touch with the latest trends especially if you are planning on doing Social Media Marketing.

For someone who’s looking at full time or part time job or an internship in Digital Marketing, what approach would you advice?

Aditya Patra: Start with an agency or a startup where you can do your internship and experience how to practically apply your knowledge and generate ideas for various types of products and services.

How do you see Digital Media evolving in future?

Aditya Patra: Digital media is definitely evolving with existing platforms coming up with new ways to share people’s lives and this opens up a new door for Digital marketers to not only to promote their products or services but also get an insight as to what people want and how organizations can satisfy that want.

Aditya Patra:
