Interview With Bhupendra Khanal, CEO Simplify360 On Social Media Marketing

bhupendraBhupendra Khanal is a Data Analyst; worked for Global Analytics and Fair Isaac (now FICO) before starting Marketelligent, analytics consulting company based out of Bangalore as founding member.

His love for producing Analytical Concepts later forced him to start Simplify360 along with his friends.

Digital Vidya: How did you get into Digital Marketing?

Bhupedra: It was accidental. I was an Analyst who loved data. When thought of starting own venture, I and my friends (now co-founders) got excited with massive amount of data that Social Media was generating. We thought to analyze that data and help companies make optimal decisions.

I was actually unaware that we were entering the Digital Media industry back then. Later, we learnt our way and built a good base for ourselves in Digital Marketing.

Digital Vidya: Why do you think it’s important for entrepreneurs, marketing professionals and students to learn Digital Marketing today?

Bhupendra: Digital is the way of life. It drives everyone in the World today, and in this digitally connected World, Digital Marketing is not an option. It’s the only available way of Marketing.

If you are not a Digital or Social, you simply do not exist.

Digital Vidya: According to you, what are the top mistakes committed by organizations today in leveraging Digital Marketing?

Bhupendra: Not having a good and dedicated budget is the major mistake. Most businesses see Digital and Social Media as an add on to their marketing practice, and do not give it much importance. This is going to backfire in a big way.

Social (& Digital) have to be the way of doing business.

Digital Vidya: You led ‘The Social Enterprise of 2014’ Webinar for Digital Vidya’s community. How was your experience in leading the Webinar?

Bhupendra: I enjoyed talking about new trends and innovations in the industry. Enjoyed sharing our experience, and answering queries.

The quality of the audience was amazing, very interactive and involved. It gave me a good feel about the future of the digital media industry in general.

Digital Vidya: Please share top 5-7 takeaways from the Webinar you would like to share with our community.

Bhupendra: Give your best when you decide to go Digital or Social, focus on content, keep the passion high and keep things moving, listen to what people say, and be yourself – free, fair and transparent. Digital is for people who wants to make big things happen.

Digital Vidya: Do you have any suggestions for us to further increase the value of our Digital Marketing Webinars for our community?

Bhupendra: One suggestion I have is to marry the courses to mainline education by partnering with colleges. The Digital Media industry is growing by over 500% in next 5 years, and we need a huge number of trained resources.

Digital Vidya: Would you like to share a few words about the work we are doing at Digital Vidya?

Bhupendra: Very well managed by Kapil and team. I like the professionalism of the team, and the audience was great.

You wouldn’t find such amazing and interactive audience elsewhere.

    One important lesson from this post (for me): Accidents are not always fatal. Sometimes it brings new opportunities. I personally appreciate the suggestion given by Mr. Khanal for developing academic partnership with main stream colleges.
