Digital Vidya: What interested you in learning Digital Marketing?
Jaymin: I was fascinated by the fact that rarely there remained a function within a company that has not been impacted by digital marketing. For instance, HR is using LinkedIn to attract and retain talent, Marketing is using google and social media to advertise products and customer service is using social media to engage and resolve complaints.
Thus, I believe it has become absolutely essential for any functional lead to understand and harness the power of digital marketing to make a strong contribution.
Hence, I wanted to specialize in learning about each of these tools for contributing in my immediate role.
Digital Vidya: Which course are you participating in / participated at Digital Vidya?
Jaymin: I am a participant of 6 month Digital Marketing Course and have recently completed the Search Engine Marketing course. The course covered using Google AdWords to advertise products on search engine and on Google’s huge display network partners.
I am currently participating in the Email Marketing course.
Digital Vidya: Why did you choose Digital Vidya’s course?
Jaymin: First, as I am pursuing my MBA abroad, I needed maximum flexibility. I had shortlisted a few other courses, but those required me to be present in their training centers. Digital Vidya offered me the flexibility to login from anywhere through a tablet or laptop and attend the training session. In case I miss a class, I could always refer to the video recordings.
Second, I needed a practitioner perspective and not a pure academic one. The scope of digital marketing is so vast that no single trainer can have the specialist knowledge of all the tools. Hence, I found the team of trainers, with each trainer a practitioner and specialist in one tool, more suitable to my goals.
Third, I could see that Digital Vidya practice what it preaches. I started learning about how to effectively use the digital medium even before the classes began by observing how Digital Vidya does it. The landing page, the lead generation methodology, the client nurturing mechanism and the email marketing that Digital Vidya employs are a few of the effective techniques that are taught in the training and practiced by the company as well.
Digital Vidya: Please share top 3-5 takeaways from the course you are participating in / participated at Digital Vidya.
Jaymin: Initially, I was apprehensive about SEM as a viable marketing tool for companies, something that was a luxury for companies in more mature markets. However, post the training, I could appreciate the unique value given in the training that SEM, which is the digital equivalent of classified ads in traditional medium, provides to companies for customer acquisition.
Additionally, I could appreciate the level of targeting and budget control that is possible through digital marketing. A marketer can precisely target people in a specific geography, location and with shared interests while controlling the maximum budget that she wants to spend to acquire those customers.
Moreover, through Remarketing, one can follow a customer who has visited your website along her online journey and display your brand to enable maximum brand recall.
Digital Vidya: Please share your experience in learning through an instructor-led, online format.
Jaymin: It was really smooth without any glitches. Digital Vidya has partnered with a reliable third party webinar provider which is used my many MNC companies for virtual conferences.
Additionally, I found the trainers well-trained in conducting the classes in an online format. Hence, they can make the participation experience smooth and address queries from multiple students without disrupting the flow.
So, all one needs is a good internet connection, microphone and headphones to get connected to a plug-and-play training session.
Digital Vidya: What do you like most about Digital Vidya’s training program?
Jaymin: The content of the program modules, the flexibility of learning and the passion of the trainers to make learning fun and simple.
Digital Vidya: Do you suggest any changes to Digital Vidya, so that the value of its courses can be enhanced further?
Jaymin: Since the program has an online format, I miss the opportunity to network and exchange business cards with my fellow classmates. There is so much experiential learning that can come from other participants.
Hence, I would suggest if Digital Vidya could create a networking platform, which could be as simple as a LinkedIn group or sharing of participant details during a module so that networking can take place post classes as well.
