Pushpinder-SinghPushpinder founded which is the world’s first on-demand marketplace for travelers on the move. In its first avatar 10 million passengers who travel everyday in Long distance Indian trains can order the food of their choice from over 150 stations across the country in more than 5000 trains.  Having served to more than a million travelers in Indian Railway system, Travelkhana is readying itself to go beyond food to bring many more on demand services for travelers of various kind.

A keen Strategist and Visionary, Pushpinder has been a Master technologist in his professional life. He has a unique ability to bring together business strategy with technology. Having more than 15 years of experience in technology, Pushpinder is a B.Tech from IIT-BHU and a Masters in Computer Science from BITS-Pilani.

Digital Vidya: How did you get into Digital Marketing?

Pushpinder: When we started Travelkhana we realized that Digital was an exciting, economical as well as scalable way to market one’s services. That’s when we started getting realizing the power of digital marketing. Currently this incorporates a major aspect of what we do in marketing.

Digital Vidya:  Why do you think it’s important for entrepreneurs, marketing professionals and students to learn Digital Marketing today?

Pushpinder: Digital is a major medium of expression these days. This is evident in some major magazines and publications having moved away from print. The kind of scale and visibility one can build in a relatively shorter time can be significantly higher as compared to any other medium. Therefore Digital can not only be ignored but should also be leveraged for growth. Additionally there is a variety of digital media that behave very differently from each other.

Another beauty that digital marketing is that it is highly measurable. The results and ROI can be quickly measured and actions can be taken and altered in relatively shorter timeframe.

For this reason knowledge of digital marketing or at least the basics of it is highly recommended.

Digital Vidya: According to you, what are the top mistakes committed by organizations today leveraging Digital Marketing?

Pushpinder: I would say that this has to be over reliance on SEO and ignoring other media, particularly the power of e-mails as a marketing medium.

Digital Vidya: You led ‘ Building A Highly Digital Ecosystem Of Travelers On The Move Economically’ Webinar for Digital Vidya’s community. How was your experience in leading the Webinar?

Pushpinder: My experience was fulfilling. The work that I did was a great review of what we were doing – in fact I have some action items lined up as my discoveries of reviewing internal data. The audience was highly inquisitive and came up with intelligent suggestions for our business.

Digital Vidya managed it very well. They did a short training session and had a clearly defined guidelines which eased my overall preparation process.

Digital Vidya: Please share top 3-5 takeaways from the Webinar you would like to share with our community.

Pushpinder: I have experience of leading to a live audience but not to people on a webinar. This was a big takeaway. For other points please see answer to the above.

Digital Vidya: Would you like to share few words about the work we are doing at Digital Vidya?


I have a lot of appreciation for the team at DV. I know Pradeep and Kapil as co-founders for a very long time. I respect both of them – both – as a human being as well as professionals. I have participated in courses lead by them and it was a great experience. Their passion as well knowledge of digital media has been something which can be leveraged to one’s significant advantage. I am sure the education that they are providing in this field is the best one can get from anywhere.
