Today’s world is full of technology and no one would disagree with the fact how technology has an overwhelming importance in our lives. You might be devastated looking at your phone and realizing it only has 2% of battery life left and there is no charger or plug point anywhere near.KFC-Watt-A-Box

For this purpose, fast food restaurant chain KFC has introduced a meal box that comes with technology at its best. The limited edition offered by KFC ‘Watt A Box’ is a lunch box that features a built-in power bank that helps you charge your device on-the-go.

Offered by only selected KFC stores in Delhi and Mumbai, lucky customers will be given a 5-in-1 Meal box, a limited edition lunch box.

KFC offers power bank with Meal

Watt a Box has a built-in power bank which is a limited edition. This Box has a detachable 6,100Ah Lithium-ion battery, an Apple lightning cable for iPhones, and a USB cable for Androids.

This idea of Watt a Box was conceptualized by KFC with the help of Blink Digital which is a Mumbai-based ad agency.

Here is what Lluis Ruiz Ribot, CMO, KFC India has to say

“We launched the 5-in-1 Meal Box in March this year with the objective of providing an abundant complete meal and at an affordable price for our customers.”

With the launch of Watt a Box, we have gone a step ahead and also introduced an element of utility into the box.

He also added “Each one of us spends a considerable time on our smartphones daily and the phone battery going dead is almost like a nightmare! No longer so with Watt a Box around.”

Dooj Ramchandani, the Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Blink Digital also shared his views on Watt A Box introduced by KFC

“In today’s day and age, smartphones have become as indispensable as food. Finding a charger when your smartphone battery is low can be stressful – whether in the middle of a meeting or in the middle of a meal.”

“With the limited edition KFC Watt A Box, we wanted to offer a smarter and easy cool way for our consumers to recharge their smartphones at KFC, either in-store or on the go, that would give them more of the moment to enjoy their meal and have one less thing to worry about.”

How to win Watt A Box

The limited edition Watt A Box is not for sale. However, customers can win it by participating in a competition on the Facebook page of KFC. The competition is all about asking the participants to tag a friend and tell them why this friend of theirs absolutely needs this power bank-cum-meal box.WattaBoxFB

After that, some of the very lucky customers at select Mumbai and Delhi outlets can also win the Watt A Box on ordering a 5-in-1 Meal Box. This Meal box contains hot and crispy chicken, Yumfills choco pie, Rice ‘n’ gravy, a Pepsi, and hot wings.

It is definitely a win-win situation where you are getting KFC’s 5-in-1 Meal at affordable prices along with winning a Watt A Box if you are lucky enough.5in1

Other food chains that gave a ‘tech twist’

KFC India is not the only one trying to match up to the digital revolution. In the recent past, there are many food chains that have tried to merge technology with their offerings.

One of the examples is Pizza Hut. The pizzas were delivered in specially-designed boxes that could convert into pseudo movie projectors. There was a pop-out hole on the side of these boxes and the users were just supposed to slip in a lens into them.

Another popular and recent example of ‘tech twist’ added by fast food chain restaurants is of McDonald’s. They performed a similar publicity stunt wherein they were partnered with Rovio and Sony to create 360-degree videos whose intent was the promotion of Angry Birds Movie of Rovio.

Fast Food restaurants aka Quick Service Restaurants (QSR) are fighting an environment since consumption of fast foods continues to be in the low single digits. This is because consumers cut down on discretionary spending. This has led to employing marketing techniques like Watt A Box (KFC), pseudo movie projectors (Pizza Hut), 360-degree videos (McDonald’s) in order to push the sales.

With the growing competition and involvement of digitization in almost every sphere, it is crucial to realize the importance of digitization and innovation to be ahead of your competitors.
