At Digital Vidya, our first encounter with Capstone Competition was exceptionally good which prompted us to take it to the next level. As we understand, practicing in seclusion can be boring and challenging, so we organized a competition for our Data Science students from 11th May 2018 to 27th May 2018. We choose a project on “Risk Assessment of Credit Card Customers” for the competition. Participants were pretty excited about participating in the competition and harness their ability to work with data. A desire to put the all their Data Science Skills into application was the main drive for participating apart from the goodies the winner was supposed to receive.
The competition proved to be a positive force which helped participants to push themselves harder and create a healthy competitive environment. Vikas Ruhil, Vani Murthy, and Surendra Sawat were the participants who won the contest by generating some useful results for the project.
Shweta Gupta, the Vice President of the Technology Vertical at Digital Vidya, expressing her joy stated that “Data Science learners need to put a continuous effort in order to achieve more growth and success, not because they have to win or lose but because working on the same skill helps to strengthen that skill. ”.
On the other hand, Kapil Nakra, the Co-founder, and Head of Product & Delivery stated- “We designed this Capstone Competition with the aim of creating an experience as that could be as close to real-time scenarios as possible. And people who are participating are drawing great benefits from the effort they put in.”
Vikas Ruhil, the winner, stated that “Some people can’t believe in themselves until someone else believes in them first”. He meant that he believed in himself after the encouragement from his course trainers and mentors, and today he was the winner of the competition.
Runner-ups also shared their learning experiences and the benefits they gained by being a part of the project. Vani Ananthamurthy, the first runner-up shared her experience and stating “I had a great learning experience working on the Capstone Project. It was really challenging. Functions, formulas learned in the class helped to find out the solution. Thank you Digital Vidya for considering me and for giving me an opportunity to participate.”
Surendra Sawant, the second runner-up said that “Capstone Project experience was excellent because we received hands-on live project and also feel and the idea of the Job I will be in the future. This has helped me to boost the confidence and got gut feeling that is going right path to take my career forward in the field of Data Analytics. This project has also helped me to test the skills that I learned during the course. Thanks to Digital Vidya team”.
This Capstone Project has helped students to gain new experiences with a better understanding of the data. Such projects help the student to brush up their skills which will benefit the student to learn through the opportunities and complexity of research & analysis. That’s what we believe at Digital Vidya. Providing real-world experience through the participation and encouragement is the best way to sharpen your Data Science working abilities.
