At this stage, you need to have a clear understanding of the concept of source & medium. 

Let’s think about an analogy. Think about the water coming out of the tap.

What is the source of the water?  – Probably the water tank on top of your house or the ground water or the storage tank near your house. 

What is the medium through which the water is coming in the top? The pipe that connects the source with the Tap.

Similarly, the traffic coming to your website also has a source & medium.

It’s time to shortlist sources which the target audiences are going. Here is the list of channels you should consider while identifying the sources your target audiences are going:

  1. Search Engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing or other location specific channels)
  2. Top Social Media Networks (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, YouTube, Wikipedia)
  3. Domain specific Blogs (Just Google and search for Top Bogs in your category). Here are some of the examples:
    1. Technology News: , and others
    2. Fashion: , and others
    3. Travel: and and many others.
  4. Popular Community sites & portals in your domain: for Java professionals, for technology professionals, Job websites for Professionals.
  5. Market Places: com for Service providers, for IT Products, for almost everything.
  6. Email List that your target audience are subscribing to
