Best website ever made in the internet world is like a sign board in the desert if it has no traffic. The frustration of site not providing expected needs can be worse than no traffic at all. This is why web analytics and optimization is highly recommend now a days. But as they says existence of myths must be there if there is an industry and the existence of same increases when there is an growing industry just like Web Analytics. There are top five and most common outrageous Web Analytics myths:

Myth 1: Web Analytics is all about the software.

If you want a proper analysis of how you are performing online then taking a help of software is not bad. Let me tell you one think it just not only about software but more about your instinct. Why I am saying this is because the correct software does represent report or result about 10% but 90% is the interpretation of people giving meaning toward the software reports.

Myth 2:  Web Analytics is complicated and difficult to learn.

Well it is not completely wrong. Think of first day of your joining an organization as a fresher and you don’t know anything about how it goes, what is the work culture, rules & regulations and policies but as time passes you get familiarise with everything including work pressure. Similarly, Doing an Analysis especially on any Web Analytics tool can be intimidating at first but it can be learn. Think like a detective looking for clues, and putting the puzzle together.

Myth 3: Web Analytics is objective.

Well the term ‘analytics’ implies objectivity. It’s actually highly subjective. Again this is a story of people behind the numbers. Suppose one is telling a story to the audience, everybody listen to it and interpret the meaning quite differently according their level of understanding. Same in this case if you are not expert but good at Web Analytics the things will no longer be objective.

Myth 4: Web Analytics is just about data collection.

The software collects the data. The real skill of Web Analytics is interpreting data and communicating the stories to decision makers. How web analytics will help in this is that it will give insight into your business, will help in identifying key performance indicators (KPI) and communication metrics.

Its very simple, software is language made by humans. when you do statistical analysis lets say for example on SPSS toll the results you get is ok but not accurate all the time but what you interpret from it and take decisions out of it is what really matters.
