Salesforce Analytics Cloud Doubles Down On Big Data

Primary product of Salesforce is Customer relationship management (CRM) product and now the company has also  stepped into commercial applications of social networking through acquisition. In 2015, Forbes ranked it one of the most highly valued American cloud computing companies having a market capitalization of $50 billion, although the company has never turned a GAAP profit since its inception in 1999. Salesforce customer relationship management (CRM) service has been broken down into several broad categories: Service Cloud, Marketing cloud Data Cloud (including Jigsaw), Sales cloud, Collaboration Cloud, with over 100,000 customers.

Salesforce provide six core services with all the services integrated on a single platform that aid companies to grow sales, build branded communities for customers, market through one-to-one customer journeys, develop mobile apps, deliver customer service on multiple devices, partners and employees and deliver analytics for every business user. With Revenue of about 4 billion US dollar,  the company helps to create personalised, multi channel customer interactions that deliver exceptional brand experiences across web, mobile, email etc. In addition to its products and services, The company also created AppExchange, a custom application building and sharing platform. Salesforce also provides consulting, deployment and training services.

Launch of ‘Wave Analytics’ App

Eleven months ago, the company launched a potentially powerful product, the Wave Analytics Cloud, which the company assured that this product would be able to incorporate data from both CRM and outside sources. It followed up with its first mobile application to take advantage of that platform, Sales Wave Analytics.

First and foremost, some context because all of this Wave Analytics talk can be a bit confusing. The company introduced Wave Analytics in last fall that was a platform for the Salesforce’s analytics business moving forward. Using this tool any company could build analytics apps on top of this platform. After sometime Salesforce introduced the mobile piece and all the announcements were part of a broader platform that was marketed to many big organizations that want to build custom applications and draw data from multiple data sources that are out of the Salesforce ecosystem.

Partnership with Giants of Data Storage

With Wave analytics cloud tool, Salesforce has build a new connection between Analytics Cloud and key “data lake” that enables Google, Cloudera, Hortonworks and New Relic to give businesses access to a more wider spectrum of big data.

For example, by partnering with Google, a marketing manager can use Salesforce Wave for Big Data to analyze the key factors between customer engagement data in Salesforce and actual customer profile from the Google Cloud Platform, such as mobile app usage and purchases. “By using that information, the manager can boost customer acquisition and better optimize marketing expenditures”, Salesforce said.

As another example, by partnering with Hortonworks integration, a retail bank associate can explore volumes of statistical and operational data stored in Hadoop database to ptovide new services and to better understand local economic trends.

“We see our partners as the big data lake,” said Keith Bigelow, Salesforce’s senior vice president and general manager for Analytics Cloud, in a press briefing. “We’re pulling in only relevant information, applicable to a particular product or use case, for example—either a small vertical sliver or an aggregate across a swath of customers. Key data-preparation providers Trifacta and Informatica have also joined the Analytics Cloud ecosystem with an eye toward making big data more usable.”
