Whatever from taking a panoramic photo using cardboard, the user has to move 360 degree in a circle. It will also record audio and the images when seen using the Cardboard will appear to be 3D. This means when you place the smartphone inside a Cardboard and view to view VR images, they will appear 3D.

Google says VR photos are three-dimensional panoramas that come with slightly different views for each eye. Near things look near and far things look far and one can look around to explore the image in all directions.

Overview

In Google Cardboard we can take amazing trips to faraway places and feel like we’re actually there. But what if we could also use Cardboard to go back in time to step inside personal moments like our favorite vacation or a holiday dinner with family? This Cardboard Camera turns the smartphone in your pocket into a virtual reality (VR) camera. It’s simple to take a photo; just hold out your phone and move it around you in a circle. Later, when you place your phone inside a Google Cardboard viewer, you’ll get to experience something new: a VR photo.

“With Cardboard Camera, anyone can create their own VR experience. So revisit the mountaintop that took hours to hike, or the zoo where you saw (and heard) the monkeys or your birthday party with the cake out and candles still lit. Capture the moments that matter to you and relive them anytime, from anywhere,” Google explains.

In Cardboard Camera anyone can create their own VR experience. So one can revisit the mountaintop that took hours to hike, or the zoo where you saw and heard the birds chirps, or your birthday party with the cake out and candles still lit. Capture the moments that matter to you and relive them anytime, from anywhere.

But the thing is that your fun ends? No. The Cardboard Camera also works very fine with Google Street View (VR). So one can even add their own 3D locations to Google Maps for their viewing pleasure.

Cardboard Camera is available today on Google Play Store in 17 languages.

So start today, anyone with an Android phone can start creating pictures like above given example. The Google Cardboard Camera app let us to snap our own virtual reality photos for viewing in Google Cardboard. You can take a panoramic shot using your smartphone, which already you know how to use this app: You hold your phone in a vertical position, tap the camera button, and move in a circle. That’s it. Now the only difference is that, unlike regular panoramic pictures, one can make a full 360-degree turn. A snippet of sound also gets recorded as you’re capturing the photo in the app.

Learnings

This is kind of new try and a new innovation by Search Engine Giants Google’s Cardboard Camera makes one thing clear to the world: Google doesn’t want us to forget about Virtual Reality. Not now or not anytime in the future. One could say google has huge success and popularity with the new Cardboard and VR innovation, because this could get into a lot of people’s hands in near future. And now, google want to keep it in front of people.

Cardboard Camera triggers off bit with trickery to simulate depth within your photos making near things look nearer, and far things look far, and then send slightly different photos to each eye thereby simulating the appearance of a 3D environment in the app.

Actually it’s not 3D; you won’t be able to move around within it. But it’s quite a bit cooler than a flat or static image. Cardboard Camera’s ability to attach sound from the environment to each VR Photo and it actually starts to feel pretty nice.

If you have got the required hardware on our smartphone, you can find Cardboard Camera for free in the Google Play store.
