Other latest marketing techniques such as social media marketing, mobile marketing and search engine marketing get more attention, giving us a sense of decline of e-mail marketing. But, e-mail, in today’s world is more powerful than ever and with a strong content, you can achieve a great open rate and potential customers.


1. Unlike Social Media, it moves the conversation to a more personal environment

It provides the most direct line of communication for conversion to sales. It is also cost-effective as it practically pays for itself! Reports say that e-mail marketing has an ROI (Return On Investment) of about 4300%. Where else would you find that at such cheap requisites?

It helps you move from “conversation to commerce”. Your customers feel safe exchanging emails than responding on a social networking site when no one is ‘liking’ or ‘sharing’ or ‘+1’ing it. They feel that their needs are catered to and that their responses are valued.

2. It is okay if your e-mail contact list is not too big

Build your e-mail list gradually. There are two key areas of focus and it isn’t a rocket science.

a) Growth Traffic:

The key to driving traffic to your business is content marketing which is basically creating and sharing relevant information publicaly. Experiment with a few people, sending them e-mails with various subjects and content and track the open rates. Try eye-catching subjects, interesting content- include pictures, videos, etc. The idea is to create irresistible content, delivered timely, that works its way into the recipient’s heart and mind. The content with a great open rate can then be sent to a larger number of recipients.

b) Capturing Opt – In:

Capturing your opt-in is the first step towards a profoundly important conversation. Opt-in is a jargon for having the recipient’s consent regarding sending him/her further e-mails. There are various companies like Aweber and Mailchimp that provide such services. This helps you to use your time and e-mails judiciously. As with this service, you won’t be sending e-mails to people with the least interest and you can move on to a new bunch of people to your services to.

3. Communication and marketing are not two different things

Communication is auto-marketing. You and your recipients exchange e-mails and this leads to the formation of a good buyer-seller relationship. To this recipient, you will mail your ‘special’ offers, give his/her discounts and your recipient is now your customer! Everything that you communicate is under the cover of marketing. More communications affects your open rates and sales in a positive way.

      Now a days, most of the professionals are registered with Box Be to filter their inbox. An unapproved mail id can not deliver mail to an inbox. In such a situation, how e-mail marketing would be effective?

      Email marketing still has good takers and cant be a left out channel in marketing communications. This is one of the cheapest forms of marketing too with good ROIs. Building a quality database of emails will take time after putting conscious efforts in attracting the visitors attention.
