Will Facebook Jobs Feature Eat LinkedIn Up?

Will Facebook Jobs Feature Eat LinkedIn Up?

A test conducted on Facebook jobs feature is probably going to eat LinkedIn up soon. The jobs feature akin to LinkedIn’s recruiting business will help business pages to promote job listings.

Benefits of Facebook’s Jobs Feature

Other than businesses promoting the job listings, the companies could now drive traffic to their Facebook Page. Therefore, the companies are not just confined to marketing their products in the News Feed.facebook-vs-linkedin

The new job feature rolled out by Facebook will allow the companies to pay the social network and get their open position in front of more candidates.

How Can you Use Facebook Job Feature?

You can spot a Jobs tab on your Page which can be used to enlist job openings.

Based on behavior we’ve seen on Facebook, where many small businesses post about their job openings on their Page, we’re running a test for Page admins to create job postings and receive applications from candidates. – Facebook’s spokesman

This new Facebook option in the status update composer permits the pages to formally share a job opening with related details like part time or full time, salary, and job title.

These new recruiting features could compete not only with LinkedIn but also with Jobscore, Workable, and other developers that build ‘Jobs’ tab applications that can be embedded by businesses in their Facebook Pages.

The special formatting could differentiate job postings from other content, thereby, attract people amongst packed News Feed.

Perhaps Facebook gave the cues last year when it tested Profile Tags feature that mimic LinkedIn’s endorsements feature.

The Process of Applying Jobs on Facebook

A dedicated landing place will show up in a Jobs tab of the page where companies can send job seekers through these job postings. Businesses would get the additional advantage of potentially gaining new followers whether or not someone inquires about the open position, compared to a relatively static Careers page on a company’s website.

An ‘Apply Now’ button will be included in job postings that launches a standard job application flow but pre-populated with information from the public profile of a user. Through the available information, a person can quickly apply for multiple jobs without having to type redundant information.

The Page will then receive the submitted applications as a Facebook Message. Though this could boost Facebook’s push to get businesses via its chat feature, it also might be clumsy for companies to mix job applications in with the customer support requests they typically get through Facebook messages.

A better option would be to forward job applications to company’s email address.

Similar to LinkedIn ads, businesses can also pay to show their News Feed job postings to more people. Facebook will give a tough competition and might outdo LinkedIn because of the combination of engagement, personal data, and ubiquitous reach.facebook-jobs

Better Targeting Via Facebook Jobs Feature

Since most of us has a Facebook profile filled with extensive information about their interests, education, past employers and job titles. Therefore, with all this data available, recruiters can target job postings ads and can reach people with the right credentials.

On an average, people spend 60 mins on the blue-themed social network. Since people browse FB constantly, it increases the probability of seeing the ads.

When compared with LinkedIn, not everyone has a profile on LinkedIn. Compared to the huge reach of 1.79 billion on Facebook, there are 467 million members on LinkedIn. Out of these, many visit the site only when they want to update their profiles about a new job or if they are actively hunting a new one.

But Facebook could reach people who are not even thinking of a job yet could be convinced to apply for the chance at a higher salary.

That is the reason Facebook has been able to build giant brand and performance advertising businesses even in the dominance of Google.

Microsoft acquires LinkedIn to gain brand familiarity and expected to go through it. However, the reach of Microsoft is still very limited and Facebook might capitalize on the product stagnation and confusion.

Do you think Facebook’s Jobs Feature will fetch better candidates?
