Case of the Week 4 (Digital Advertising | Aug 30 – Sep 5, 2010): Localized Advertising

Here is another Case of the Week to test your skills in using Digital Advertising

Caset of the Week - Social Media (Facebook Advertising)You are a Digital Marketing Manager for a Localized Business with presence in Delhi & Mumbai. You have to promote a new product launched by your organization through Online Advertising. You have a limited budget and want to target the potential customers in Delhi and Mumbai only. Which of the following options for advertising online will you choose?
a.) Google Adwords
b.) Facebook Ads
c.) An Ad Network
d.) All of the Above

Given the two conditions as mentioned above – ‘limited budget’ and ‘targeting customers in Delhi & Mumbai’ only, Google Adwords & Ad Network are the correct choices. Both of these options allow you to targeting on specific regions. Facebook Advertising in India so far doesn’t allow location targeting.

For those of you, who are new to the world of Ad Networks, please refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advertising_network. In many cases, Ad Networks works much better by doing the targeting better than then self-service models such as Google Adwords.

Btw, do you know that using ‘Content Targeting’ through Google Adwords, you can also target your ads based on other demographics (age, location etc).  We also expect Facebook Advertising to go Local soon; it will then open a whole new world of opportunities for Localized Businesses.
