Digital Vidya: How did the idea of Blogging clicked your mind and how did the blog MissMalini.com came into being? Would share the story behind that?
Malini: I started blogging as a hobby back in 2008 when on the suggestion of a friend I started MissMalini.com to supplement the column I used to write for Mid-Day in Mumbai. I had no idea at the time that it would explode into the media empire I am building today 🙂
Digital Vidya: Did you find Celebrity Blogging better than your previous career opportunities?
Malini: I believe that all the jobs I’ve had have made me who I am and taught me the skills to become an independent blogger and create the kind of content I do today. I have loved all the career opportunities I’ve had from professional dancer to radio jockey. I wouldn’t change a thing!

Digital Vidya: Do you think that it’s possible for a newbie to make profession out of blogging? What should s/he do for the same?
Malini: Absolutely, but I feel blogging is a very personal passion. So I would not advise you begin a blog in the hopes of becoming rich and famous! First find a subject you are most interested in and feel you want to write about every day (and not just for the same of it).
Once you find your voice and a unique gap in the market you are likely to be successful at it. It might also be a good idea to intern/work with a successful blog first to learn the skills you need and garner some exposure.

- Authenticity – we live and breathe the blog and it is a true reflection of who we are, what we love and what we believe.
- Our love of content first and foremost. It may be a business, but it’s always about entertaining, inspiring and connecting our generation. If it’s not good for our readers, it’s not good for us.
- Years of hard work and dedication. This was no overnight success! And we still have a long way to go!

Malini: To be your digital BFF. To reach more people, on more platforms, in new and exciting formats, without losing our passion and authenticity.To become the voice of the new, global Indian, both in India and abroad.
Digital Vidya: How do you see Digital Media evolving in future? What are the top 3 trends do you foresee for 2016?
- Continuing growth of digital video (including OTT platforms)
- Increasing move towards “distributed content” that is made for, and is consumed on, social media.
- The rise of individual content creators in India, from all over the country (like we’ve already seen in the US)
